Course content:
The course is devoted to familiarize students with important tropical and subtropical tree and shrub species, their uses, ecology, and cultivation techniques. Students will have the opportunity to study theory and practice of predetermination techniques a procedure to know the tropical plants in the field, by means of simple, fresh characteristics of non reproductive organs (leaves, twigs, bark, odors, tastes, exudations, buttresses, etc). The course takes account of interdisciplinary approach and relationships with allied branches like taxonomic botany, forestry, biodiversity, ecology, agroforestry and ethnobotany.

Exam method:
To be eligible for the final exam the student must: (1) Submit on time the Group assignment (ppt presentation on assigned topic) (2) Participate actively in classes (3) Participate actively in two excursions to Botanical Gardens (4) Pass successfully the plant samples/pictures quiz
