Course content:
This course deals with vegetable crops cultivated mainly in tropical areas, including temperate as well as tropical species. During lectures, general aspects of vegetable production techniques and field preparation are described as well as the detailed information about taxonomy, botany, uses, propagation and cultivation, harvest and postharvest handling of each species. Practical skills training such a recognition of different vegetable species or quality evaluation are performed during seminars.

Exam method:
To be eligible for the final exam the student must: (1) Prepare and present short presentation about neglected tropical vegetable species (2) Participate in the excursion to the Central Institute for Supervising and Testing in Agriculture in Dobřichovice (3) Pass successfully two vegetable crop identification tests
