Students will learn how to work with Linux systems, i.e. how to use Linux shell commands for file management, information extraction from data files, system information, job control, and access to remote machines.

Expected previous knowledge:

No previous Linux knowledge is required.

Learning outcomes:

Ability to work on Linux workstations and on high-performance Linux computing systems.

Teaching and learning methods:

Lecture and practical training plus homework exercises

Exam method:

Attendance of all sessions is compulsory. Grading will be based on
- active participation during the sessions
- exercise completion (homework)
- final exam.
