Course content:
determination of woody plants by buds; structure of the flower, Liliaceae and related monocots, bryophytes, function and evolution of flowers, inflorescences, fruits, vegetative characters, Lamiaceae, Primulaceae, Euphorbiaceae, Fabaceae, Caryophyllacaee, Scrophulariaceae, Veronicaceae, Brassicaceae, Rubiaceae, Boraginaceae, Pteridophytes, Rosaceae, Apiaceae, Asteraceae, Poaceae, Cyperaceae, Juncaceae
Learning outcomes:
general knowledge about important families of native, mainly herbaceous forest plants; the ability of determining plants using determination keys (field guide), vegetative and floral characteristics; understanding the environmental indication of important forest species
Exam method:
12 course dates are offered; at least 10 must be attended for being accepted for the final exam. After being registered and given a guaranteed working place, students that miss 3 or more dates will be quoted negative.
Exam consists of 3 parts:
1. part (7 credits): Remembering und naming woody branches and mosses
2. + 3. part (6 and 15 credits, resp.)
2. part: 2 questions about morphology of plants;
3. part: 5 best (out of 6 offered species) determination of vascular plants
Alltogether,
28 credit points maximum; positive assessment after reaching 15,25 points minimum.
