Expected previous knowledge:
Basic knowledge in soil and plant sciences (at least bachelor level).
Learning outcomes:
Aims: Give an introduction to fundamental processes in the rhizosphere and their applications in environmental technology and sustainable agriculture

Objectives:
- Obtain knowledge about concepts of root systems and the rhizosphere
- Know about and understand fundamental physical, chemical and biological processes in the rhizosphere and their interaction
- Appreciate the importance of rhizosphere processes in plant nutrition, pollutant uptake and ecotoxicology
- Obtain insight into applications of the rhizosphere (rhizosphere management) in environmental technology and sustainable agriculture

Teaching and learning methods:
This course integrates theoretical knowledge provided in the course materials and explained by the lecturer in the lecture part of the course in the first half of the semester, and components of blended learning using BOKULearn (Moodle) as platform for handling the student´s assignments (homework) to address a certain aspect of the course content, and subsequent peer review by colleagues in the second half of the semester.
