Main topics covered in the course are: introduction to research work, basics principles of scientific writing, and practical work on research oriented project
Expected previous knowledge:
Basic principles of breeding and genetics.<br>The course is intended for MSc and PhD level students with appropriate background.
Learning outcomes:
The expected outcome of this course is experience what it means to be a researcher. This will be achieved through the work on an individual personal research project under the guidance of the lecturers.
In the first step students are supposed to acquire more detailed knowledge by reading relevant scientific papers and other publications. Depending on the research topic they carry out the practical work (lab work, data analysis or detailed review of literature) and conclude their work with a report, resembling a scientific paper.
Teaching and learning methods:
Individual work in total of 2-3 months working time, divided throughout the semester.
Exam method:
written (research report), oral (final presentation)
