Course content:
Excursions to specialized horticultural nurseries, and horticultural-botanic collections of interest, as well as non-profit-institutions with horticultural connection. An emphasis is put on societal, historic and cultural aspects of the Austrian horticulture.
Expected previous knowledge:
Good knowledge of horticultural technology and botanical systems migth be helpful. Knowledge in Austrian history can be useful.
Learning outcomes:
After passing this course you should have/be able to:
a) a significant additional knowledge in horticulture and Austrian horticultural institutions
b) an improved knowledge of horticultural plants and methodology and the botanical system
c) useful information on the historic, societal and cultural aspects of Austrian horticulture,
d) to write a proper and scientifically correct seminar thesis;
e) wishful thinking - ... when there is a chance to do so you can publish your work either as presentation or short journal article.
