Overview of bacterial systematics, epidemiology of phytopathogenic bacteria, their detection and control.



Plant Virology :
History of Plant Virology and Phytoplasmology. Taxonomy of plant viruses. Replication and transmission. Detection and elimination.

Learning outcomes:
Plant bacteriology:
The students
+ can name the most important phytopathogenic bacteria.
+ understand the biology and epidemiology of phytopathogenic bacteria.
+ know control management principles and are able to develop control strategies.
+ know basic methods for the identification of phytopathogenic bacteria.
+ are able to conduct simple infection tests with phytopathogenic bacteria.

Plant virology:
Students have knowledgte of the history of Plant Virology and Phytoplasmology, the Taxonomy of Plant Viruses, their Replication and Transmission as well as the Detection and Eliminiation.

Students present prominent examples of pathogens.
Teaching and learning methods:
mid-term assessments, presentation of a specific pathogen
Exam method:
oral; presentation of a selected pathogen, mid-term tests
