Course content:
The academic semester covers the following themes: methodological tools for crop science and plant breeding (epistemology, statistics & experimental design, genomics, crop physiology), Genetic diversity (population genetics, diversity and genetic resources), Bioinformatics, Quantitative genetics, Breeding strategies (breeding schemes for autogamous, allogamous, marker assisted selection and genomic selectionÖ), Plant breeding for agro-ecosystems.
Expected previous knowledge:
Basis in plant biology, genetics, crop physiology and statistics
Learning outcomes:
At the end of the module, which combines both theoretical and practical lessons, the student should be able to handle the different aspects of plant breeding: from the management of genetic resources and diversity, the identification of genomic regions controlling agronomic traits to the proposal and implementation of breeding schemes.

Exam method:
Each teaching unit is evaluated individually. Final grade takes into account ECTS allocation for each course and an average of 10 for each teaching unit is required to get ECTS credits.
