Course content:
The course aims at providing students with an up-dated knowledge on the main uses of biotechnology tools in crop breeding. After an introductory revision of scientific basis, goals and outcomes of crop breeding, the three main topics covered in the course are: molecular markers and genetic mapping, invitro culture applications and genetically modified crops.
Expected previous knowledge:
General genetics, molecular genetics and basic aspects of genetic engeneering
Learning outcomes:
At the end of this course, the students should be able to assess the usefullness of the different biotechnology approaches currently applied to plant breeding.
