ECTS credits:
6,0
Title in native language:
Aplicaciones biotecnológicas de las rizobacterias y otros microorganismos benéficos
Term Semester:
Autumn/Winter
Instruction language(s):
Spanish
Course content:
With the completion of this course, it is intended that the student acquires a detailed and updated knowledge in the field of biotechnology of beneficial microorganisms for plants, including rhizobacteria and mycorrhizal fungi. The ssubject includes the description of the main biotechnological solutions that are currently being used and / or investigated in the area of ??the microorganisms that promote plant growth (biofertilizers and agents of biocontrol), as well as the treatment of environmental pollutants using bio- and rhizo-media techniques. At the end of the course students are expected to be able to critically evaluate scientific literature on this subject of knowledge and that acquire the ability to raise their own proposals for research projects.
Expected previous knowledge:
Recommended general knowledge of microbiology and molecular biology
Learning outcomes:
At the end of this course, students will have acquired knowledge about the biotechnological applications of beneficial microorganisms for plants and biological treatments in the agroforestry and environmental sectors and will be able to communicate to the scientific community, in the appropriate formats, the hypothesis of work and the experimental results obtained during the research and to extract, assess and synthesize information from scientific communications and databases of biological data (including field trials) in the field of Agroforestry Biotechnology;
Teaching and learning methods:
o Discussion
o Lab practice
o Lecture
Exam method:
The qualification of the subject will be distributed in the following way: 25% practice report, 25% oral presentations of scientific articles and active participation in class discussions, 50% written exam on the knowledge imparted in the theoretical-practical classes.
